Stuff that looks like insulation on my lr

Me again. Every time I look at my tank lately I have more questions! Does anyone know what stuff could be growing on my live rock that looks like insulation kinda? It's not growing flat on the rock - it sticks out. I am seeing it more and more. I have snails and crabs and they do not go near it. Thanks for the help in advance!

How long has your tank been up? or have you upgraded your lighting? I had something similar happen after upgrading lights that I describe as looking as if I hadn't dusted in 2 years. If that is it is will be OK and go away by itself.

I haven't even upgraded the lighting yet. That is next. But I did change the hood so more light is going into the tank. I changed to lr and dsb about a month ago. I have seen it growing all around in different areas. Not a ton yet, but I just don't want it to be all over if it's not good.
