What kind of test kits, tools that you consider are necessary in this hobby?
I have the regular test kit to test for pH, amonia, nitrate, and carbon hardness but what else do you need?
I know I need a refractometer, a calcium test kit, but do I need a magnesium test kit, iodine test kit, phophaste remover, etc.? Please list what you have in your list. Thanks
Oh, which magnet cleaner do you guys have? Thanks

depends if you are doing coral's or not.. specify what you want in your tank and then people will tell you what you need. i just run fish and Live rock.. and just test for pH, ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, and alkalinity... (i use seachem marine basic)
then rest i think are for coral... but i'm just a newbie too..
i use a mag float... you will have to measure your thikness of your glass to determ what size to get...

I dont have a mag test or iodine test kit or phosphate remover. You will want a calcium, alkinity, nitrite AND nitrate, pH, and amonia test kits.
DONT USE TAP WATER.

Why do they NEED a 60 gallon tank or a sump?
A skimmer is HIGHLY recomended, a sump is nice but you will do just fine without it.

depends on how much you want to do.. and i read a quote on here before.. i like it.. something like ... the LFS doesn't make you buy that $80 coral each week for your tank YOU DO.... spend wisely.. and it can be fun... same as any hobby/sport you are in....
thats my 2 sens but hea.. i'm a canadian...

i just got rid of all my API, Seachem, and Red Sea test kits and replaced them with Salifert kits for:
pH
Phosphates
Ammonia
Nitrates
Nitrites
Calcium
Alk
(I need magnesium and iodine)
Refractometer (from here)
I don't use the magnetic cleaners anymore, but just use a scraper with a 18" handle. plus my tang eats most of the algae off the glass.
You'll want an Xacto knife, super glue GEL or equal (not regular superglue, but the gell version) and rubber bands if you ever want to frag (grow) corals.
get a couple different turkey basters with different opening sizes (spot feeding and bulk feeding).
get one of those $15 food processers by black and decker or proctor silex to make your own food.
get a flashlight with a red lens so you can see in your tank at night to see all the critters.
