stupid ice

oklahoma got hit lastweek with an ice storm, my power went out from saterday night to friday night( one whole week),
my yard ( 30 acres) is covered in broken down trees and limbs, one of our cars has libs all over it, 2 frigdes and freezers full of food had to be thrown out, and my fish, clam, and tube anemone all died, we have a generator but the parents thought the heater, mini fridge, dogs heat and tv were all more important than the tank and the two fridges
it breaks my heart to see all the damaged trees, ill go right now and take some pics out of it
the only good thing out of it is that i got a new puppy, my boyfriend and i went to the mall after the roads were clear enough to do a little shopping ( didnt do s any good, the mall didnt have enought generator juice to open all the stores ) and there was a puppy running the parking lot so i stoped and got it and took it to the vet checked if it had the little chip in her neck , she didnt, so i got her shots and all the good stuff, the vet said she was lab and husky mix and is 2 to 15 weeks old, already she is like 15 lbs

Wow .... amazeing! The dogs are adorable ... looks like the new pup is mainly yellow lab.

you can way tell its lab but you can way tell its husky, she has one blue eye and one brown eye and if she were darker ( like the husky color) she would look full husky cuz she has the markings of the husky like the shoulder markings

SORRY to hear of your loss. GLAD to hear of your gain. Looks like a CUTE little mutt. Lots of love will be always returned from man's best friend. Keep an eye on that tank, and do some water changes. Let things settle for a while, and you will be back on your fins in no time. We got hit pretty hard here in Chicago too. No powere outages where I live, but lots of accidents, I amost got hit by a sliding car, and the parties I work (catering chef) had very little turnout, 2 even canceled, which means less money for me. I wish you the best. Keep us updated.

Yeah I used to live in OK before I moved to Texas. Its annoying though, right after I left all these ice storms start hitting OK, and here in Houston people tell me in school they have never seen snow... My friend from Oklahoma gave me a call telling me how all the roads are covered in ice. We lived in Bartlesville, NE corner. Anyways good luck with cleaning up and everything.

Ya, most of OK got hit pretty bad. I was not without power for a week, but 5 days. I too got tree limbs everwhere. Not 30 acres worth though. Good luck cleaning it up and nice puppy!

i have some family that live in choctaw, they were without power but they had water, we are on a well and didnt have water for flushing toilets or horses or showers, god it feels great to take a shower

i dont live in a place where it gets weathe like that to often but i do have to ask...why use the generator to ran a fridge?? it is an ice storm why not put the stuff in the fridge outside???...in 93 there was a blizzard here and people just put their milk and fridge stuff outside in the snow

we live out in the country and there are alot of strays... well i guess it really doesnt matter if we had to put it all in the trash, even though it was cold it wasnt cold enough stuff still went bad
but we did put the milk and my dads pepsis outside lol

also there are a lot of "dirty" people out here they steal, we now have locking gas caps and a rott in the yard, our neighbor tried to steal our generator in the middle of the night but good old dutches (the rott) scared them off

dang...that is cut throat to be stealing peoples generator while they are sleeping...do you have it locked down too...i would post camp with my trusted shot gun and banjo....lol

Yep know that feeling. We run on well water too, so when the electricity went out, we had to use gallon jugs to wash our hands and stuff. Luckily my mom had running water so we went to her house to take showers.
