i have a 120 gallon high tank set up as a reef and the tank is 60 long 18 wide and 26 deep, would 3 175 watt M.H and 440 watts of V.H.O be a over kill on the lighting or should i stay with the duel 175 watt mh and 330 watt vho's.
thanks

depends on what you are keeping the frst one would be ok for anything except low light corals and the second would probab;y be ok for everything including some lower light SPS and clams

26" deep tank, if you are using a dsb this will drop 4" off, now at 22" MH lights need to be 6-8" off water, now at 28" from bottom of tank, I would go to 3 250w of MH for getting the light to the bottom of your tank. I just spent a massive amount of time researching this for my 125. I went with 3 175w MH, but my tank is not as tall as yours. also be aware of the heat these will put out, I put 4 fans in my canopy, 2 pushing cool air and 2 pulling out hot air.
