ok i think this is a stupid question, but im gonna ask anyways. is a nano reef tank way harder than say a 55-75gal reef tank? i really want a reef tank but its not realistic cuz of costs. i was just wondering how much maintenance it took and if it was that much harder than keeping a larger tank.

It is just more work to maintain the water quality. IMO With a smaller there is a smaller percentage of error. If you let your 75 go without a water change there isnt much change. With a nano there is a big change. See what Im saying?
Good luck and good fishing

my first tank is a 10
and it was a very diff. task... it is more cost effective if you do it right the first time.
this takes a lot of reading and a lot of listening(sp) to maintain a 10 tank.
if you dont have the money for a larger tank then....
STOP... READ everything.... Then think about a nano and if it's something you have a good deal of confidence in.

well i have a 75 fish only going right now. so i am hoping that will help out a bunch for the experience part of things. As for the reading thing, man 1 month ago i didnt know ANYTHING about this hobby. i read sooooo much im addicted to learning about this stuff. i also am very good about maintenance on my tank. so a couple more q's. how often do you do those water changes and how much do you change about. say for like a 10g. also, do you think it would be beneficial for me to get comforatable with one for a while (with like just lr and ls and 1 fish)before adding expensive coral into it? or do you think if i was really on the water changes and maintenance i could handle it?
