What should I use for substraight for a 10 gallon mini reef setup? I am looking at getting 12 lbs of live rock. I am new to this and I am trying to figure all the things out before I start buying.

I would not use crushed coral. IMO pure sand is the best. Fine grain.

Live sand is the way to go IMO.

if you want you can go with the caribsea aragonite sand at petsmart and it will become live with over time and from seeding it with live rock
