Substrate change?

Real short and to the point. Been doing my research and I have concluded that sand is a better reef substrate then crushed coral, which I currently have. How do I safely make the transition?

Use a gravel vac and vaccuum out half of your crushed coral. You will get some horrible nasty smelly stuff out of it if the aquarium has been set up for a little while. After you have vaccuumed, remove 1ft of width of tank every two to three days. Then, when you get to the point that you stopped vacumming, do another water change and vaccuum out the other half of the tank. Then, continue with the process. Once the CC is completely gone, add substrate slowly, cup by cup and try not to get sand all over the rocks and corals.
It's not really rocket science, but I wouldn't change the CC out without first vaccuuming it well first. JMHO.
