Substrate for Triggers

Sorry for all the trigger questions but I'm setting up my 150 gal and want to make sure I do it right. Maybe I should have put all these questions in the same topic. But anyway, what is the best substrate to use for a tank with Triggers like a Humu and a Niger? My choices are:
Move over all the live sand from my current tank to the 150. I have enough established live sand for about 1-2" depth. Problem with the live sand is that the Humu likes to dig through it and makes a mess, spitting it up. He seems to be having fun but fine sand floating around is not the nicest to look at.
Use 100% crushed coral. Crushed coral wouldn't be as messy with the Trigger but it requires regular vacuuming.
Mix 50/50 new crushed coral with my established live sand. Not sure what advantage this would have but I can do it.

Add a larger grain sand on top of your fine sand. When it gets kicked up, it drops right back to the bottom.
