substrate help?

i am getting a new tank and i had black sand wasnt sure if it was live or not. But i am wondering what is the best , crushed coral, agronite or ect.

.5mm aragonite or even barebottom are my 2 favorites.

yep im a fan of BB as well...
however in my 20L ive got sugar size dry aragonite mixed with black caribsea "live sand"....
looks kool!
The only reason they call it "live" is the fact its got dead bacteria in it...
