Im using premium aragonite reef substrate which is quite large probally the same size or a bit smaller than pebbles
when i put live sand in the tank should i take out the old aragonite substrate or leave them in? And how much live sand would you recomend for a 50gallon tank? open to any ideas:help:
i currently have 3 fish in tank and have nowhere to put them when i change the substrate will they be harmed?

I used about 65lbs of sand in my 55. 25 LS and 40 carib reef.
I also have 90lbs of LR
I did this same project 3 months ago. I removed my UG and
CC. I left no old substrate in the tank. I have had no problems
to date.

Depending on the size of your fish, you might just want to put them in a bucket with some LR, a heater and a PH or two. That has been my method when moving fish from tank to tank and it works fine. I do keep only small fish though.
