substrate question

I'm setting up a 65 gallon sw tank. my filtration is a eheim 2028 with the outlet going to an undergravel filter , reverse flow. The undergravel filter has a poly type floss over it, with a fiberglass screen sandwiched between 2 eggcrate type spacers. my question is, what type of substrate should i use over the undergavel filter that will allow sufficient waterflow to pass thru it? the ug filter covers about 2/3 of the tank. I'm thinking of using aragonite live sand over the rest of the tank, but i'm afraid water flow might be a problem thru the sand if i put the sand over the ug filter plate. my thinking is the floss on the ug plate will provide more biologocal filtration for the tank, and also allow the debrit to stay off the bottom where the canister filter can remove it, remember i'm running the ug reverse flow. Does this sound like a good idea? Can anyone help me? thanks, tikkit :help:

You can still use sand, just use a thicker cut so it wont go thru the plate holes. Read a little more on this boards before you set up your undergravel. Good luck.
