Substrate Question

If I were to buy just fine grain sand that wasn't "LS" and put it in my tank to let it cycle, as opposed to spendng like 600$ on live sand, would the sand that I put in there eventually acieve the same effect as the live sand? And Also are the prices for LS and Argonite on this site pretty competitive or can you find it cheaper?

No, dead sand and dead rock will not become LS or LR unless it is seeded with LS and LR to begin with. Don't we wish that it could!! LOL
You can seed, however, what LS and LR you do put in your tank will then grow all over.
I have not made a purchase from this site, but I have checked around alot on prices, and this site's deals, IMO, are very good.
