I am going to be moving so I am setting up a new 180gal. fish only with live rock, I wanted some suggestions for the fish. The fish that are deffinatly going to be kept are a harlequin tusk,Emperor angel, and a Semilivertis Butterfly. Do you think I can keep a bamboo shark with them? Does anyone have any experiances they can tell me about with any of these fish? The only one of the fish that I have kept was the Harlequin tusk.

Welcome.
You know, I hate to see that 0 next to a post so I thought I would take this opportunity to welcome you.
I really don't know much about agressive tanks and from the fish you seem to be interested in, that is the direction you are heading in. There are several knowledgable people here so be patient.
I have tried triggerfish when I first started the hobby but couldn't handle the messy eaters and the cruelty of the whole thing. I have changed my mind and I am now the proud owner of a fuzzy dwarf lionfish that I just adore.
I wish you lots of luck and fun.

My mistake
The har. tuskfish is aggressive towards smaller fish but should be alright provided he is not the larger fish in the tank. The golden butterfly is somewhat expensive but it is relatively easy to keep for the experienced hobbiest. It will eat most foods and is happy with its own kind.
I know absolutely nothing about bamboo sharks. and The shark is what I was refering to when I said agressive and I shouldn't have said that since I know nothing about them. Sorry about that.

how experienced are you? golden butterflys and imperator angels take some experience, a good mature tank, and great water quality. you shouldnt add either of these fish until your tank is at least 6 months old, preferably older. i also wouldnt put a tusk in with angels and butterflys. although they can be kept with them, they have whole different needs, and can always turn on one of them. a bamboo shark is a definate NO! they need at least a 300 gallon tank. you need to chose what you want, a community tank, or an agressive tank. if i were you i would go with an agressive setup. i just think they are cooler and have more personality than community fish (dont get me wrong i love community fish as well), but thats just my opinion. hth, bo

With the harlequin tusk that I had before he was very social and non aggresive. I am not going to be keeping any small fish that I would have to worry about. I am expirianced in the fish department, and I have had good luck with angels, I have kept a Blue face, majestic, and maculosis before. I am trading in my 90gal. reef for the 180. I have the time and patience to keep them healthy, and I also beleve that it really helps to get the fish from a good source.
