Which brand of pump would anyone suggest that would go into a sump? I would like a reliable but really quiet pump also. The pump is going to be pumping around 600 gph from my sump located under my tank to my MT. Thanks for the help/ opinions.

depending on whether you want to go with a submersible pump or external, the quiet 1 pumps and the mag pumps i think are very good, i have 2 of the quiet 1 pumps, 1 is submersed and the other is external, the external 1 is very quiet, you cant even hear it running and i've it going for over a yr, always stays cool as well.

Ditto. Danner Mags are pretty nice. I own about half a dozen across several tanks, and use them both in sump and external. They are much more cost effective than big boy externals like Iwakis, and are a good quality/price combination.... at least for starting out.
That said, I've heard that mags used externally sometimes leak around the pump housing. I use a mag 9 and a mag 5 external on my fw system and have not observed this. I've also heard that they are bad for transferring heat into the water, especially when submerged, but I've not been able to deny nor confirm this.

Mag drives are not recomended for external saltater use as people have reported problems with salt creap around the seals. I have alo heard of them leaking sometimes but raley. I would say go with mag drives or quietones. All I use is quietones they are really quiet and work good imo. The queit one 3000 or 4000 or 4000HH would work for 600gph depending on your head pressure. Mag drives use a little more power vrs the queitones as well when comparing gph outputs to watts consumed, if your concernd about long term cost.

I have allways used mag drives until recently. I now have a Sequence Hammerhead on my sump for my 125 gal DT. It is a little noisey though, I'm glad it is in the basement.
