Suggestions on what size tank I should get??

I currently have a 75g tank with live rock and will start corals. I have soon realized that wanting some bigger fish such as tangs, etc. I need a bigger tank. If all goes well while learning next spring I plan on upgrading with a larger tank. I know I want a 6' tank but not sure of the exact gallons. I know lengthwise surface area is most important. Is there a real benefit to purchasing a 150 or 180 versus a 125 since they are all 6 ft tanks, is the width, height really much of a benefit while considering the additional cost??? Any input is appreciated. Thanks.

bigger the tank the more the cost will be. the lights for reef sand lr, filtration and such
the 180's are nice. my lfs has one and has a bunch of huge fish in it.
a huge sailfin and a hugee hippo. bot bigger then a adults hand..

height is pretty much irrelevant, but width does matter. It increases the surface area of the tank waters contact with the air, which will increase the oxygenation of your water. Also fish think in two dimensions, so they will have larger territories which means less stress.

Height is not as much of a concern as width, as was stated before. Personally, for a 6' tank, I LOVE the 175 bowfronts.

I have a 120g and a 210g and i want to just have the 210 or go bigger and get rid of the 120 and 210 and just have a 540 8'/3'/3' that would be nice...
It will come to how much you want to spend on tank size... the only thing i would say is get one that is 24" wide for rock placement
