Suitable Fish for a 2.5g?

My wife and I have really gotten into aquariums. We have a 55g freshwater (4+ years) and a 35g saltwater (1+ year). I'm looking at getting her a 2.5g for her desk at work.
What fish (if any) would be able to survive in a tank this small. I'm going to add some live rock and live sand. I just don't want to trap anyone in a tank that is too small......
And I know that a 2.5 will be a BIGGER challange than my 35g!!!
Thanks for any input!

From what I know they are readily available but not something the fish stores carry in stock. They are so small they tend to disappear in the fish stores. Most will order them for you though. They pair up nicely too.

Clown Gobies
Yasha Goby (although you might not see it)
Neon Goby
Green Banded Goby
Tail Spot Blenny
You could consider a Catalina Goby. They like colder waters so it may be doable in a smaller tank. I've seen some people on another forum have luck with them in the 5G Pico Tanks that will stay at room temperature.
In all honesty, I don't know if I'd do a fish in that small of a tank, but it certainly can be done.

Well, the tank will be located in an inside room (no outside exposed walls) that is pretty warm most of the time. I do plan to put in a small heater, but don't expect that it will be needed much.
I have a Scooter Blenny at home that's a riot to watch. Maybe something like him would work????

By cooler water, I mean they like it 70 degrees as opposed to the 78+ mark that other fish tend to like more.
Scooter blennies need more rockwork to pick on than a 2.5 gallon is going to allow for.

im voting for a clown goby, citron goby or even a panda goby,,, something very tiny that you will only have to feed evey other day or so....
nothing that needs pods or critters in the sand to survive....

you could put in a couple sexy shrimp and pom pom crabs. I had a 3 gallong and tried a couple different fish and the biggest thing I found was making sure there's enough oxygen in there. I had it set up as a reef, now I have a small Mantis shrimp in my 3 gal. Just started to not sure if it's going to work long term yet.

I don't think any fish would do great in a 2.5 gallon. That is just so constricting. I would just put a little shrimp in there, couple of snails, and maybe an emeral crab.
