Ok, so I was not sure where to post this thread so I thought I would start here. My problem should be an easy fix but wanted to get some more experienced hobbyist than I am so I know where to go from here. First I will list my equipment and water parameters.
Filters; One fuval 406 filled with carbon, bio rings, D' Nitrate and Phosphate removal "not pre filter or water buffer, it is simply a chemical filter"
One 20 Gal Sump with 7'' large 200 micron sock and bio balls on the bottom under the sock, the second compartment has Cheato Alge, about 2'' live sand bed and about 10 pounds of nano live rock, it them flows into the third chamber with pre filter and a 1100 GPH pump.
Fluidized filter: runs off my overflow box and exits into sump filter
Protein skimmer: Coral life new style skimmer "for tanks up to 125 Gallons"
Over flow box; CPR 1200GPH rated with two pre filters
Heater: 300 watt
TANK: 60 GAL long with 80lbs of live rock with 3'' live sand bed.
Light: 6 bulb HO "325watt" with three 12K and 3 Antic bulbs with LED moon light all controlled with built in timer.
Current water parameters;
PH: 8.2
Temp: 79 F
Nitrate: 0
Ammonia: 0
Nitrate: 5 or below "its in between the 5 and 0
Cal. 490-500 ppm
ALK: unsure of yet but will test soon.
So a few issues I am running into, One sump level drops daily I continually have to pour about 3 cups of water in it. Two I am about to add a 800 GPH wave circulating pump and I believe that will cause even more heat as i don't think the heater really turns on. Three If I need a ATO "auto top off system" is there a way to DIY. Four I want to add coral "mushroom and polyps only and was wondering how much mag would I need to add to the tank or how much of an issue is It going to be as far as dosing. And last but not lease, FISH I have fully cycled the tank using yellow tail Damsels "two" they are currently in my sump going to a Friends house to put them in his 300 gal tank. i have 12 hermit crabs and a few snails. The tank has cycled for over a month now is ready to add fish, what i am looking for is one show case fish "med" and 3-4 small colorful fish to add to the tank. Any help would be great!
