Sump Design Help

I would put your sand, rock, and chaeto or any other organics you are going to add in the second chamber. The inlet side should be strictly water and maybe a filter sock and the return. You could put live rock over there as well but I would not put sand in that side. Live rock would be a good idea over there though.

Ok, but if the inlet and the return are in the same chamber, what is the point of the other chamber? Most of the water is just gonna get cycled from the bact into the tank... Wouldnt I want the return at teh opposite end of the inlet? I was thinking having the OF empty into the sump in the corner with a corner baffle (bubble screen) pull right to the skimmer from there and then empty back into the same chamber on the opposite side near the divider, put the rock sand and organics on the left along with a smaller line from the T in the overflow and the return... I forgot to include a valve in the oferflow line running from the T to the left section of the tank. That way I can cut down of increase the flow between the 2 chambers.
