sump filtration please help

im going to build my own sump using a 10g with some baffles and my skimmer, but im not putting in a fuge. all id be using is a charcoal media bag in the drain side is that all i need?

Have any more info on the tank? Size, livestock, equipment? There is really no set rule of what you need in a sump. It is really just based on what you want to do with the tank. If you are just looking for a little extra water volume, a place for media, and some extra biological filtration, I would personally just do one baffle, and put your LR and media bag in one side, and then the return pump in the other being that it is only a 10gal.

All I run in my sumps is a little carbon and the some rubble rock from the fish store. I have no trouble at all. I even saw where one guy used it strictly for extra water storage and his skimmer. He didn't have any filtration in it at all.
