I have a 29 gallon reef, not a big tank, but im soon going to be getting into SPS and would like my skimmer to not be visible and other things. Along with having more water is always better.
I was looking at a standard 20 gal for a sump.
Ive had my 29 set up for a while and will be using an over flow.
What should I get as far as an over flow box and power head to move the water back up? Do you use PBC pipes or tubing?
One last thing, those black tubes that everyone uses from the water coming back from the sump. You can turn them into different directions. Where do you get those?
Thanks

i used a 300gph overflow and a mag 3 pump for return on my 20L. The black stuff your talking about is called loc line. just do a google search for it.

alright.
Do you think I would have a cycle problems if I got an extra 20 Gallons of water from an establised tank?

I have a 29 gal display with a 15 gal sump. The 29 is drilled in the top right corner and I have pvc draining down into the sump, where I use a mag 3 for a return pump up through pvc pipe to loc line that splits the return flow in 2 directoins. I also have a korallia nano in the display for extra flow, cause the mag 3 wasn't enough flow alone. I would recommend using a korallia 1 or equivalent power head cause the nano just wont send flow the whole way across the tank for me. You shouldn't have any cycle problems just from adding extra water volume.

My set up should be a lot like yours. Except I alredy have 2 koralia 1s.
Ill have to see if all three stir things up a little.
