How do you do waterchanges with your sump/fuge?
i'm tring to figure if i should plumb a ball valve and turn it on when i want to drain water, and would i be able to use it to put water back in the same way?
so, like stated how do you do your waterchanges? pics would be great as well.

I do it the simmple way. I drop a power head in the dt and fill the sump once I turn on the pump back on

On my return pump in the sump I have a tee that has a ball valve on two sides . One valve to the DT and one to my utility sink [or a floor drain will work]. When I start a water change I throttle down the valve to the tank and open the valve going to my sink . Let it flow until you removed enough from the tank/sump and close one valve and open the tank valve . I have a 12v bilge pump[walmart - $12] and pump my premixed/heated water from my holding tanks[32 gal rubbermaid garbage cans] . I used to use the Python hose kits but ever since I went to sumps , this works much better and no mess .
I hope this helps !

that does sound easy, its kind of what i had in mind. i'll need another ball valve, though. i was just trying to find a way to put water back in to the sump/fuge, but i'll just pump it back from my trash can i mix in, i found a 20gallon brute type can(just says rubbermaid roughneck on it). :jumping:
