Sump Pump

I was wondering if you could use a sump pump that you would use for a sump in your house as a return pump? I've seen ones that will pump more gph and tehy are cheaper. Anyone ever tried this?

These pumps are not made for aquarium use.They most likly contain metal parts that could hurt the tank. They also are not made to run 24hours a day,7days a week,so it would most likly burn up in a day or two.Then you would really have a problem. I use one for water changes only.It makes a quick job of pumping 30 or so gallons out,then back into the tank.
