Sump Question

Have an Aqualine sump with an in sump skimmer. Skimmer is powered by a rio 800 and works good but my question is this. When the skimmer overflow empties into the sump it creates micro bubbles which are picked up by the return pump in the sump and spewed all through the tank. Not a good thing or a great thing to look at. My answer was to raise the skimmer up so the overflow flows into where the bio balls are which then has to travel threw the sponge block and perfecto there are no bubbles. Is this the correct way of doing it or am I missing something. Seems to me the skimmer should be able to empty into the sump without spewing all those bubbles.....

hmmm.... well there are a few things you can do
i have a coralife skimmer which came with a "bubble diffuser". It is basicaly a box that goes over the water-out tube of the skimmer with slits in the bottom to release water out of. It jsut has a few foam pads in there. Or you can put in what are called baffles which i am assuming you know what they are, but ill explain anyways.
they are basicaly dividers between parts in the sump to let bubbles go through.

as you can see by my simple little diagram, the water will be flowing one way, under the first then over the second. But the bubbles will float up to the top before they can get under, or float up right after going under if they by chance do.
just connect a few baffles with some acrylic and acrylic glue onto the side between your skimmer and your return pump and the problem is solved.
but if your method works, i dont see the problem
oh well
good luck!
