I am in the process of bulding my own sump/fuge for my 120g and have some questions.
1...what type of filtration media do you need in your sump? Dou you have to use LR or could you theoretically just have the sump w/ the water running through and then pumped back up the the tank?
2...is it better to have the fuge at the beginning of the sump or at the end?
meaning, baffles, fuge, pump or fuge, baffles, pump?

My guess would be baffles first so that you are not blasting the fuge directly with your overflow.
The benifit of the LR is to give the bacteria and stuff a place to live and acts as a natural filter. Without that you would realy just be circulateing water.
