I have a 75gal tank that used to be a reef setup. Now it has 2 LARGE tirger oscars and a breading pair of Jack Dempseys in it. I am using the sump that I had for the reef running on it. I have a 29 gal reef going now and would like to put the sump on it and use it as a refuge. I was just wondering , if I can leave the filter foam in it that was used for fresh water and just hook it up and put in saltwater and have the established bacteria already in the media survive and keep going. Or do I need to clean the filters and start from scratch. I hope this isn't confusing. Thanks for the advise.
