I have a 55 gallon main tank and am going to add a 10 gal. sump/refugium. What's a good flow rate throught the sump/refugium?

You want to have a good flow through the sump and a slow flow through the refugium. How are you going to get the water to the sump, overflow, or drilling the tank. just match the pump to the overflow, and for the refugium I run a rio 150 on mine and I cut back the flow even more, you want the water to run through it very slow.

Hey Jager, Guppie, you guys might want to read/look at the thread in Reef Tanks by Broomer, called "Contact time", it covers this flow rate in great detail.
