how to set up?
If you set up your refugium before your skimmer dont you skim out all advantages you create in your refugium?
and if you set up the refugium after the skimmer room can you have enough flow through the refugium to feed the return pump?
so which setup to choose?
i added a drawing of a setup i am working on
please correct where needed? Need alot of help

I use a small pump to supply the flow for the fuge. This way I can control how much or little I like. The biggest downfall to this setup I have found is that is had to control the micro bubbles with only one set of baffles.

So setting up baffles after the skimmer would help?

most of your questions are answered by not using the skimmer.
You might also set up a test with some plastic containers to make sure it all works. That way you could simulate the tank, sump, refugium and so on.
Wish I had done that. It would have prevented a couple of minor floods. Plus I learned how to make an overflow out of $15 worth of pvc.
With proper design you can reduce bubles with little or no baffles..

Please explain to me how to accomplish no mirco bubbles without baffles. This could help me with my sump.
Well I didn't say without baffles. Just with less.
On my 55g my drain goes to a wet dry which breaks up the bubbles fine. It is nothing more than a wastebasket, full of crushed oyster shells, and a hole in the bottom. No bubles come from the wet dry.
You can also use a smaller container inside a larger container so the small container fulfills the function of the baffles.
You probably could use pvc with some kind of water trap to seperate the bubles from the water before they enter the sump/refug.
dern will attach a diagram. too hard to draw typing.

just a few thoughts on protein skimming. the best case scenario is to have your protein skimmer feed by surface water as dissolved waste tend to concentrate at the waters surface. you also want the water skimmed to pass through the skimmer before it gets to the bio filter in the sump
Micro bubbles. you can use a small foam sprung on the water returns to eliminate air from returning to the DT
