A sump will be a great addition to your tank as well as your time. A refugium would be best placed in line with your sump so you could slow the rate of water down, a refugium works best with a slow rate of water turn over. You will need to get an overflow box to take your water from your aquarium to the sump. You will also need a pump capable of turning your system over the desired number of times per hour. A rubbermaid container works great for the sump its self. The refugium will require some light source to feed your plant life and remember in line with the sump at a slower exchange to slow the water down.
