Thinking about ditching the canister filter and going with a sump/fuge. What size sump would be needed for a 55 gal tank?

I have 33" of room to play with under my cabinet. Not sure if I should do the complete DIY from scratch or buy a tank and just put in baffles. Is there a general guide (HxLxW)?

Thanks. I'll shop around to see what I can put under there. I was looking at another site that gives all measurements for acrylic and set up but I don't want to cut and glue each piece together and it start leaking on me.

I dont agree with the bigger the better if the pump is too big for the tank it can have way to much return pressure. If you have a tank with an over flow box, The boxs are rated at a maximum gallon per hour

The question was for sump/fuge size and yes the bigger the better! You're right the pump needs to be sized to fit the system but that has nothing to do with the amount of water in the system.

only thing that would fit under my 55 was a 15 long, ever the 15 reg was too wide unless you build one, search diy
