Sump skimmer question

Not sure exactly which skimmer I will purchase but I'm leaning towards a ASM-G2 skimmer. Question I have right now is I'm creating the baffles in my sump and would like to know for this type of skimmer or say Euroreef how much water should be in the sump for the skimmer to work properly. In other words I don't want to make my baffles to high or too low for the portion the skimmer goes. Would 7 inches of water be too much water ?

7 inches would be a good amount of water. When I last had my Euro Reef hooked up, it worked great in 8" of water.
