Sump Skimmers

Im thinking about ditching my sump/refugium for a sump with a larger skimmer inside of it. I cant really get algae to grow in the refugium and I am going to be keeping a Mantis which are messy eaters. The tank is a 40g with a 20g long sump. The footprint available for the skimmer is about 12'' x 10''. Is there a good in-sump skimmer that I can buy for a 40g? Possibly a good brand that is resonibly priced.
And if you think I should keep a refugium instead of the skimmer, please tell me why.
I am also going to be keeping maybe 2 fish, GSP, and a few "weed" corals.

Nah Im not going to. If they get killed Ill throw in a few Chromis for a nice schooling effect and for 3$ you cant go wrong.
The ASM Mini-G Protein Skimmer w/ PC-1000 Needle Wheel Pump rated for 75g. Would that be a good choice for a 40g skimmer?

Ehhh all depends on your bioload but the way i was taught, was you usually wanna have your filtration rated for 2x the tank or more.
