Sump sock issue. Need help please...

Hi all. I have a 90g FOLR up and running about two months now and all is pretty good. I have an Ecosystem sump with refugium and have a constant issue with my overflow water coming into the sump sock but most of it running over the top of the sock and into the sump rather than through the sock into the sump. This also causes lots of small bubbles running through the sump and back into the tank. I've tried a new sock but to me it seems like the sock material is too thick to let the water flow easily through it so most flows over the top. Any ideas? Thanks!

Dood...clean your sock or replace it. It has become clogged with all the junk it's supposed to catch.
You can turn it inside-out and clean it under the faucet, or toss it in the washer with no detergent (you can add some bleach if you like them white). The best thing to do is have several that you rotate out and when you grab the last clean one, do a load of "laundry".
As for the new sock, some are more porous than others, so find some you like. I can't say I've ever had this issue tho, regardless of the sock. Could your pump be running so slow that it's not putting enuff flow thru your sump, and likewise the sock?
You can always do an experiment...take each sock type (clean) and run water thru them in the sink...that will tell you if it's a particular sock that's the problem.

Hey thanks. Current sock is brand new and it still comes over the top. I even extended a piece of PVC so the water enters the sock further down so it has a better chance of not coming over. As for the pump, if anything I thought maybe it's too strong and it was pumping too much to have it all flow through and not over the top. I think my next step is a more porous sock. I see 100 and 200 micron socks on eBay. Not sure what I have now but will definitely try more porous. Thanks!
