I have a UGF with a single 300 gph power head on it. If i take off the fan on the exhaust valve where the water comes out. would it be safe to put on a silicon hose and feed it to my sump tank where my skimmer is?

aarone,
To answer your question, no. If there was a power outage, your tank will drain and overflow your sump.
Some very good advice for you:
Pull out that UGF. It is a serious nitrate farm. It does nothing good in there. UGF filtration is an old school way of doing things. It can be ok in fresh water but not salt.
Remove your crushed coral and replace with sand. Sand can help with bio filtration where CC will just hinder it.
