Sump too loud

Any suggestions for reducing the vibration noise on my sump pump?
I have heard you can place a piece of foam or carpet under the pump.
Any other suggestions? Is tubing a better option that pvc pipe for the plumbing on my sump?

Time. Im dead serious. Mine was loud as well. You will get used to it unless its unreal loud. I dont have anything unde rmy mag7 and its fine now. Was loud at first. I would try maybe a poly filter. Something than can be replaced every few months.

IS it an IN SUmp Pump?
If it is IN the sum, make sue it is not against the edge or hitting the bottom, this will reduce vibrations.
If it is Outside of the Sump: "Put styrofoam underneath it: or Put styrofoam under it and Screw it (the pump) to the floor as if it is just sitting on the floor it is going to vibrate.
AND: Make sure ALL of your joints are tight. They could vibrate loose.

Crypt / Lasher, thanks for the advice...
It is a mag pump 36, it is in the sump. The way my plumbing comes off the pump it does touch the glass sides of my sump. It isn't unusually loud, it is in my bedroom so that adds the my problem. Looks really nice but the water flow drippn' into my sump from my overflow box and the vibration from the return plumbing is a bit much. And if I don't find a way to make it a little more quiet, it may end up just being me and the tank in the room...my wife is having a tougher time getting used to the sound (time is what I thought would make it better also).

Do you have difficulty with just the sump noise or the overflow noise? I finally got mine to quiet down by putting in a dorso standpipe, keeping the sump pretty full of water, none of my tubes or pipes touch the sides.

I hate overflow boxes. I have a 40 in the bedroom. Got so sick of it I drilled the tank and put in my own overflow through the back. If you are interested I will take a pic.

mag 36. Good lord man. How big is this tank? I want pics asap!
do you have a built in overflow or did you drill your own? Durso stand pipe works wonders on water flow noise. I have on my 75 and you cant hear any water falling.
The next thing you can try is that dynomat stuff people use in there cars. That will absorb some of the sound.

The first thing I would do is get rid of the Mag 36, this is waayyy too much pump for a sump return its over 3000gph even at 5ft. Also what size plumbing are you using on the pump? If the pump is restricted too much it can start to cavitate causing excessive noise.
If you have a HOB overflow box a durso pipe probably won't fit but you can use a gurgle buster or stockman overflow pipe to silence it both are inexpensive and easy to build. I have a combination of the two on my HOB overflow and it is virtually silent, the airbubbles popping in the sump make more noise than the overflow box.

Yeah...that is a crazy big pump...you got a shark tank in the bedroom there? WOW...
I had a similar problem and ended up switching it to two smaller pumps which really cut down on the noise. Also I have soundproofing squares situated all around the sump in the stand. The are the squares like you would buy for a recording studio.
