I am starting to set up my new reef tank. It is a standard size 55 gallon. My question is what would you guys recomend to use for the sump. I want to make aseperate refuge, and sump. One of broomers set ups. Thanks broomer. Well any ways the only problem with this is my stand is kind of narrow. The two center supports leave me only about 11.5 inches of width to work with. Most tanks are 12 inches wide. I have had no luck finding rubbermaide to fit this damn width either. any Ideas, thanks ricky

Hey Ricky,
You could try (depending on how tall your stand is) a 15 Tall and a standard size 10 Gal. Both have roughly a 10.25"x 20" foot print the 15 is just taller. You can drill the higher space of the 15 and plumb it to drain into the 10 and use the 15 as a refugium, the 10 as the main sump, and still have 8" left for any external equipment. I've never done this personally, just going by a mental picture, so it would be worth getting other opinions on this idea. Good luck with it.
Myk.

ricky, you might want to take a couple of steps back and think about that. IMO a stand with that small an access area is going to be a real REAL pain in the bottom to maintain any sort of sump and/or refugium. You may want to think about buying/building another stand with enough room underneath to work in. The main danger in having that cramped an area is that it'll become such a chore to maintain that you'll start neglecting the day-to-day maintenance (not your fault, human nature LOL)
Hey, just my opinion of course.
Good luck,
Paul
