I'm sorry I thought the overflow box would lead to the sump... I wasn't planning on drilling... I thought there was a box you could put on top to suck out the water... am i totally confused about the post???????

Hey bob don't confuse sump, and refugium. A refugium s a place with little water flow. This allows for your macro to grow, copepodsto run freely, and also a place of "refuge" for say a healing starfish, or a great place to frag corals that need very low water flow. In the fuge on my 90g I am running just a fuge, with very little flow through it, but I will be adding a sump, filled with lots of live rock for filtration, and probably a part time skimmer. If you do a Fuge search, or check out Broomer5's web site you can probably get all the answers you need.

Yea thats where i got the idea.. I'm going to build a refug and the sump.. in his he doesn't mention any lighting.. but don't you need light for the alge to grow in the container?

I know I only need like a powerhead in the fuge... then the main pump in the sump... I just was wondering if i needed somekind of light to be running 24h over the fuge to help w/ growth...

Yes I run 45watts of lighting over a 10g fuge. Thats more than I will ever need but I already had the ballasts an hood so I putnit to use, but yes 24/7 stabalizes your PH, and keeps your macro from going sexual

Ok.. I'm going to end up using a 39 gal. fuge and then pry like a 20 gal. sump... brand new rubbermaids i have sitten around the house.. bought for moving but ended up never using them..... would 30 watt light be ok over the fuge or should i go 40 - 50 watts???

that should be enough, with the lights on 24/7 my macro does more than fine, I don't need as much light as I have.
