Sun coral not opening

We brought him home saturday and so far I haven't been able to get him to open so I can feed him. He's currently in the sand. Should I move him on a rock? What'st he best way to entice him to feed? I expected him to be settled in by now and ready to eat. Any suggestions?

There are many ways, but I've always had good luck with cyclopseeze. Spray some over the closed polyps after the lights are out.

+1 Pavlovian effect, if it doesnt open the first time, do it again the next night, it took mine 3 days to fully open, each night it would open just a little more than the last. Now I just turn off my pumps and pow in 2 minutes its fully expanded.

Put him in the shade, i've heard they don't like a lot of light.
They are non-photosynthetic, but are quite able to survive in bright lighting. If there is exposed skeleton, be watchful for algael overgrowth - otherwise, just be sure to place it where it is easy to feed (lighting is immaterial).
Like PD said, persistence is key.
