Sun Coral

I have a 10g, 1 green open brain, polyps, green star polyps, green mushroom, purple mushroom, and a devil hand. I have a nice dark cavey type spot for a Sun Coral, would anyone advise against it? and what kind of food do they usually take when you spot feed them? and how often should you spot feed them?

i've read daily, and 2 x a day. i have a small colony that i've fed about every other day and it's been growing fine.
misis, cyclo-peeze, and other meaty foods will work. try to get all the heads when you feed.
i wouldn't advise against it, if you are up to the task.

How do I make sure it eats without the clowns or shrimp or whatever eating it also?
Some people will take the sun coral out and feed it in a bowl with tank water. If you don't want to take the coral out you can try dome feeding. I have a tupperware bowl that I will place over top of it after I spot feed.

most people use a turkey baster to spot feed corals. ive got a black sun coral and a bunch of other LPS that i feed all the time and i just give a squirt to the tank to distract the fish then hit all the corals. my tang and LMB still steal a few pieces but i just watch and make sure all the corals get somthing down. and sun corals eat pretty fast so its not usually a problem

Yeah, tomorrow IF I do buy the sun coral, I'm going to stop and grab a TB, my buddy does the same thing...that seems easier, thanks guys.

i fed mine once a day for the first few months that i had it, but now i only feed it every 1-3 days, and it still grows and reproduces pretty quickly. i use the pop bottle dome method, or my 3 peppermint shrimp steal its food.

no. it needs meaty foods. larger pieces than phytoplankton. buy some misis shrimp or frozen cyclo-peeze. they carry both at the hidden reef.
