Sun Coral?

Hello i have recently purchased a small five gallon aquarium. Im not exactly sure what ti put in it. i dont want anything aggressive. Any suggestions of a stock list would be great. I understand because of its size the inhabitants must be limited. But i have a question about sun coral. Would they be able to live in this aqourium. I have read they dont need alot of light or a very large tank. Any advice would be great.

Not a good idea in my opinion. Reason being because it is very messy. You have to feed it regularly, daily or every other is preferred. I think it would be too much bioload for such a small tank.

I have 2 suncorals. I have an orange and a yellow one, each has about 5 heads to them. They do not need light I have mine under a ledge on my live rock. I spot mine every other day 1 day brine shrimp the other freeze dried cyclop-eeze. As long as they are kept fed they are not hard to keep. Water params have to be kept in check. The biggest thing is to make sure you kept them fed. That is all I do and they are getting more heads and growing fast. Just my .02

i have a 5.5gallon nano with 2 sexy shrimp soon to be 3 and a clowngoby and even im struggling (it is my first tank) to keep the cyano down due to my overfeeding. Ive finally learned proper feeding with just experience but i think a suncoral would be hard to keep. Even with chaeto unless you meticulously spot fed them in such a way that you really cut down the waste it would cause you to have too high of nitrates.
my 2cents

Thanx every one for the warnings and advice can you recommend something that would be just fine in this tank. the lighting isnt great yet but will be soon, and it is too small for a protien skimmer.

I know those things are simple. But are the simple enough to live without a protein skimmer.the lighting is gonna ge a 50/50 daytime/actinic for eclipse aquariums.

Most likely. What size tank and how many watts? Most of those softies don't need much light, but of course they will need some.

what are you running? If you are using a eclipse i suggest you just go out and get a 5.5 gallon AGA then get a aquaclear 70 and mod it into a fuge and buy the current usa 2x 18watt lights. You will be able to keep pretty much anything but SPS.

I am unfirmiliar with some of your terms.Sorry. I dont plan on getting another tank because my parents only agreed to this smaller 5 gallon tank because i already have a 125 gallon reef.

heres my suggestion.
Tank: 5.5gallon all glass aqaurium
Filter: a hang off back filter, Aquaclear 70. (you then take out all the stuff in the back and put in a macro algae with a light. It really helps keep down the nitrates)
Lights: Current USA Nova Extreme 2x18Watt T-5 lights.
Heater: any 25 watt you can find
thats a pretty good set up as far as 5.5 gallon tanks go.

That would be great but this tank has three sides and a bow front so its really strange. And all the filtration and lighting it in the trange hood. The hood is comlpetly atatched to the back of the tank,so its really hard to add anything. the filter consists of a bio wheel and a carbon filter. thats it. this tank is VERY strange.

ahh its an eclipse isnt it, doesnt the top come off that? You could do all i mentioned above but use the eclipse tank instead of the all glass aquarium

Ok i still dont think so. the hood it attached to the trim that runs around the tank. There is only one little hole to add anything. I will try to exoeriment with the hood and try to remove it.
