anybody know how to do this ?
i have over 100 polyps coming in in the next two weeks and will be fraggin them and trading them off for other coral?
if you would be interested in trading just let me know? and we can work something out.
i figure they should be ready by the end of the month or at least the first week of april
oh! frags will be between 3-5 polyps each. i have seen 3 polyp frags go for around 70 dollars on the big

[hr]
site. but i would rather trade for other coral. especially zoo's i am looking for the blue ones.
but first i need to figure out how to frag them. they will be attached to lr rubble.
any commments or advice is always appericated!!! thank you in advanced

may want to ask in the reef tank section. i know you can put them on rock and they will spread, i'm just not sure on breaking apart the colony. i don't believe they are all one entity, but...

I just asked the same exact question on that other thread.I dont think I would want to get rid of any though.
These are "a dime a dozen" according to the guy at the LFS but I've seen them go for a lot more than I got it for($50)
Good luck with it when you get it

are you sure you are talking about "sun coral" as listed in this site under corals?
A 3 polyp frag for $70??? ... well you can see how much they are going on this site and from the pictures presented (of course not actual coral but close) shows a good 30 + polyps for $35 or $39.
Local stores also carry it in the same price range.
Or are you possibly talking about a type of zoanthid???

What local stores are you talking about?Because the one not too far from Bradley Beach, near the Asbury circles,NOTHING is cheap there.I am pretty sure you know which one
They had sun coral there a while ago WELL over a hundred bucks!

corky- i just saw a 10 polyp frag at my lfs and they wanted 89.99 for it. i am in no way trying to sell these i want to trade them off for other coral when i get them and get them fraggged. the 70 dollars i was refering to was on the big

[hr]
site and that was without shipping and it was a 3 polyp frag. i just think that some people think they r rare or something to pay that kind of money for them. i just bought over a hundred for just over a 100 bucks.
bella...i still have your email. and when i get them you can have a frag for free if you pay shipping. i still feel bad about that sump/fuge.
drea. i have red shrooms got anything else? it will be 2-3 weeks befor they r ready.

Sounds like you could be refering to Dendrophyllia, which looks similar to tubastrea sun corals. I've actually never seen a sun coral frag as small as 3 polyps. They're too cheap to be fragged into such small pieces.

It was easy..I used a hacksaw..My rock had a section of plain rock in between..so i never had to cut the actual live coral to get my 2 frag pieces...I just cut the bare rock.

In no way am I trying to encourage or discourage anyone from trading, etc.
The care of one coral to another can vary greatly and properly identifying it, as I'm sure you'll agree, is most important.
Wish you the best.

it's crazy what people will pay for stuff just because someone auctions it off and labels it rare.

I know this has been asked but are you refering to the hard coral tubestrea or a type of zoanthid? 05xrunner and puffer32's pictures are of tubestrea which is commonly called sun coral and depending where you are $100 for a big one isn't too bad, but I haven't seen any market for small frags of the coral. If you are refering the a type of zoanthid that I've seen on the

[hr]
site then you probably got an awesome deal getting 100 for $100 dollars.
