Super Skimmer bubbles?

I recently purchased a coral life super skimmer. I am using it HOB. I have let it run its 'break in' period and am now letting it foam. The bubble defuser box does not seem to defuse all the bubble and is still pumping a ton of micro bubbles in to my tank. Is this normal at all? The micro bubbles is one of the reasons I gave up on my seaclone skimmer. is there a trick or something I may not be doing right? Does anyone else have a super skimmer with this same problem or solution?

Pull the black foam up out of the box about an inch and make sure the return hose isnt pressed against the bottom of box.
