I have a reef system and use nothing for supplements. I just do weekly water changes to replace used up trace elements. I wouldn't add anything if I were you.
For your coraline growth, check your calcium levels. Coraline will thrive under proper levels of 400 and up. If you have no coraline on your liverock then I would find a nice small piece at your LFS thats covered with it and add it to your tank. It will spread well over time throughout the tank.

i add calcium and i havnt checked in awhile what my calcium level is at. I do have coraline on my rocks but not as much as id like. My cousin adds like 5 different supplements and his rocks are awesome looking. His entire back glass of the tank is also covered with coraline. From what i have read, you should add calcium, strontium and carbonate because those are the 3 basic elements found in the ocean that are almost essential for a healthy tank.

Since your tank is a FOWLR you shouldn't need to supplement calcium or strontium since you dont have corals in your tank to consume it. Those elements should all be found in your salt mix. You could try a product called Purple Up. I have heard it works really well to increase Coraline Growth. Good Luck !!

You can bring it up with a buffer such as B-Ionic or Kalkwasser.
I use Tropic Marin for my salt. My calcium stays around 420 without supplementing.

it can affect your alkalinity, which can effect pH, which can effect your fish.
what kind of salt are you using? if Ca is higher than 450ppm or so than i wouldn't add any calcium supplements. this could cause a CaCO3 precipitate and crash your pH.

I havew yet to add anything to any of my tanks except B-ionic or other calcium supplement. No need if water changes are done and decent quality SW is used, and I use NSW anyhow that I collect locally. Fish do not require a high calcium load, but calcium can affect the ph.....
