I am fairly new to coral/reef tanks and have had success for the past year (knock on wood). I have a 75 gallon tank with an open brain, favia brain, xenia, leather toadstool, green mushroom, trumpets, frogspawn, crocea clam, pearl bubble, squamosa clam, and a couple others I'm sure I can't remember at this moment......What is the recommendation on supplementation aside from regular feeding. Should I be adding calcium, amino acids, etc. I do 10% waterchanges weekly..
Any info would be greatly appreciated

You can save yourself a lot of money on additives by just doing water changes. I have a 125 with lots of coral and the ONLY thing I dose with is Zooplex (for feeding) I absolutely think you shouldn't mess with mother nature. :scared: I use Instant Ocean salt and have not been disappointed.
Good luck!!

Depending on the frequency of water changes and the brand of salt you are using, I now believe the only thing that may be needed as a supplement is ca, alk and magnesium. If I did more than monthly water changes, I would only need to do magnesium.

thanks,
we do weekly water changes on our 90 gallon tank, changing 10 gallons a week. We add calcium, iodine, phytomax, &zooplex.
the corals are doing great - we have some leather, zoos, polyps, xenia, candy cane, carnations, mushrooms, a plate coral - i think that is it.
should we stop adding anything?
