Swapping CC to sand

I am planning on swapping out my crushed coral bed with a Deep sandbed for cleaning and looks reasons. What am I supposed to do with 100 lbs of coral?

Don't throw it out. Just add sand to the cc... It's all the same.

The sand would eventually make its way under the coral and I want a deep sand bed, not a deep sand bed with a deep coral bed, my poor fishies would have nowhere to swim.
