sweetlips disapears!!

Please help...im new to the saltwater hobby and i have been doin it for a month now...i have a 20 gal ***** set up with a special 50/50 light...i have 3 damsels, 1 clown, 2 corals, and 1 spotted sweetlip...everything looks and has been goin great untill this morning my sweetlips is nowhere to be found inside or outside the tank... should i be tearing my tank apart looking for him or not disturb any of the other things and chalk it up as a loss? please help?!?!?

If you do have dead fish in your tank, it will not take long to pollute a 20 gallon. I'd rip it apart ASAP before you get ammonia in the tank from the dead fish.
BTW, a spotted sweetlips is much too large of a fish for a 20 gallon. Just FYI.

Yeah. A dead fish in a tank this small can produce enough ammonia to kill everything overnight. Juvi sweetlips are cute; but get huge and they are very difficult fish to keep; even in very large systems (150 gal+). I'd suggest doing some research on any additional fish before you buy; don't take the advice from the ***** salesman--they may mean well, but often know little about our hobby. Even without the sweetlips, you are near or at the limit of what a 20 gal can handle.

will it be safe for me to take out my live rock while i search for him and will this also agitate or do anything to my corals one of which is a sabea anemone

thanx for the advise found him dead under a rock ...i didnt know untill after i bought him how hard they r to take care of...but thanx for the info it al really helped

Sorry you lost him, but glad you found him. IMO; asking questions, like yours, is the best way to learn & enjoy this wonderful addiction.
