Why is saltwaterfish.com's fish inventory so low lately?? My order is on hold until they actually get one of the fish in stock. I've never seen the stock list this low before... almost no tangs either! Any ideas/answers?

Isn't that the truth!

I was about to order my skimmer and noticed it was out of stock too, but I plugged my email address in so they could notify me when it's back in stock. Got an email the next day. So my skimmer is now on it's way.
I figure sense the price was so good and I got free shipping (and no tax) I could wait. I saved over $100 with SWF, so I'm happy!

Hope your fish comes in soon. :happyfish

my lfs is low right now too, it started because of Christmas and no guaranteed overnight shipping. They place a large order after Christmas and after waiting 2 weeks before it was shipped they only received a very small portion of it due to storms in the Phillipines which they told me is where a large number of fish are harvested.
hope that helps.
BTW I've found swf to have great prices and their shipping was fast!

So glad I wont be needing fish for another month or two.
Never thought that would be a good thing.

well, logistically speaking...
everyone wants their goods in before xmas-
new year= new quota, so some companies fly as much in early in the year so that quota isnt filled up when their goods hit the port.
also, chinese new year is 2/12- 3/2
everybody wants their goods out before 2/12, so vessels book up much faster. the other option is to fly goods.

Saltwater aquarium is a good business don't you think???
gosh.....$40 per lil coral is a typical price. That's like....I have to work 8hrs on a minimum wage to afford to buy a coral.
And then everything lfs order in, everything is sold out.
SW hobbiest don't really care how much they are spending I guess. As long as they see something new, they buy them right away. That's pretty scary.

this may be true... but the lfs here are full of stock on everything. It helps if they order from different collectors/carriers, instead of just relying on one source.
