The Blue Linckia Starfish, Linckia laevigata., is a staple in the home aquarium for its characteristic vibrant blue color. They are best kept in tanks with plenty of live rock and away from parasitic snails, some hermit crabs, and true crabs that may harm them. It is very sensitive to water conditions and can be a good indicator of poor water quality.
Once established the Blue Linckia will live for a very long time. They might even reproduce asexually through regeneration from the central disc. They will feed an omnivorous diet consisting mainly of algae, sponges, and surface microfauna.
This starfish should never be exposed to open air during handling and requires drip-acclimation to successfully introduce it into your tank.
