Am I crazy for wanting to go from a 250w MH with no actinic's , to the nova extreme T5 light with slimpaq 460nm actinic and 10000 k T5 ho lamps? the T5 is 4-39w total 156w. So am I a wack job or what? I just really don't like the color of this light and it seems everything is hiding from the light, forgot to tell you it's a 40 breeder frag/reef tank with mostly softies

Why not just change the bulb color? Or supplement with a 2 lamp T5 actinic job? What exactly are you running now? How old is it? What color, maker, ballast?

My mH is the porr man model , it is made by a co. called fishneedit.com I have a 14k bulb in there now. Like I said I am just wonderind if all this light is really needed or if my corals will do just as well under t5"s

The corals would probably do fine with t-5s, but already having a 250w setup, id just mess around with bulbs till you found one you like. There are many options from 10k, 12k, 14k and 20k bulbs for any color preference.
That website you gave for the light looks like a good pendant. Not sure what ballast they use but if the bulb you use is the one from them too, i would certainly look into getting a new brand name bulb. a new ballast would benefit the tank too. but to start, youll get better color and coral response just from a better bulb.
