i plan on swithing my eel, flame hawk and dottyback over to a "new" 55 gallon tank. it has a back pack protien skimmeron it and 15 lbs of lr currently. but i want to take the lr and argonite from my established tank and put it into the new tank. along with my old filter. (i am only allowed 1 tank) so how do i avoid amonia/ nitrite spikes. cause my fish were not cheap and i do not want to lose them. thanks

Is the 55 cycleing now? or will you be setting it up as you break down the other tank?
By aragonite do you mean crushed coral or sand?
The live rock should be no problem to move over, substrate is a different matter. Save all filter material and keep it wet and circulating if possible.
