Well, I currently have a 46 gallon FO tank with 2 yellow-tail damsels, a LMB, and a vlamingi tang (he's small, and I don't plan on keeping him forever...), and 2 turbo snails. I'm looking to turn this into a reef very soon. The only thing I really need to do is take out all my crushed coral, and replace it with LS. I have quite a bit of CC, and I don't know how to get rid of it without tearing the tank down. Then, I know that sand clouds the water a lot, so would that be safe for the fish/ inverts? Some advice is much needed here. Do I need to take all the livestock out to replace the substrate?
